About Kirsty Wells

You know the Bikini Kill song Rebel Girl? We could just recite those lyrics instead of trying to describe Kirsty. “When she talks… I hear the revolution… I wanna be her best friend.” Talent, insane creativity, and iron-strong work ethic are some descriptors that come to mind. -Sarah G.

It’s KIR-sty. With an “urrrrr” (like you’re mad), not “Kristy”.

Kirsty studied fine art at SOVA in Dawson City and spent 7 years apprenticing and working in Germany. Before coming back home to the Yukon she was a fixture at Hold Fast Tattoos in Leipzig. She now lives in her hometown of Whitehorse, YT and works out of Molotov & Bricks Tattoo. Located in the downtown core on the infamously "artsy” Wood Street with fellow artist Dan Bushnell, and behind-the-scenes gal Sarah, the folks here are community activists and like to keep things creative, rad, and revolutionary.

Kirsty continues to work the convention and guest-spot circuit in Canada and internationally, as she has for the last 10 years, and she has built a solid base of fans both in the Yukon and abroad.

Though she considers herself to be an "allrounder" (or, a little bit of every style), Kirsty's work tends to consist of a high contrast between lines or shading and colour, and her particular flare can be seen throughout her work regardless of the style. Come to Kirsty for bold lines, traditional and neo-traditional artwork, unique flash and custom pieces made in collaboration with your ideas.

Kirsty is grateful to live and work on the traditional territories of the Kwanlin Dün First Nation and the Ta'an Kwäch'än Council.
